LAND AREA AND PHYSICAL FEATURES
The town is 3,567 hectares of land, characterized by a rugged terrain with an average elevation of 200 meters.
Some 34 percent of Santander, mostly found in the coastal areas, have gentle slopes which are highly suitable for either agriculture or industrial uses. Thirty-one percent is hilly land and thus require heavy cultivation for crops to grow. The rest of the areas are best for forestry. The bulk of Santander’s land area, at 75.71 percent, is alienable and disposable while 24.29 percent is timberland.
